Boosting plant health with sustainable seaweed
Our Story
In PEI, everyone knows you can change the world on a front porch. Late summer evenings are made for conversation, gazing at the sunset and watching the kids soak up the last moments of the day. And that’s how Storm was born. The end.
Well, that’s the short version anyway. The long version isn’t quite that simple but has just as many porch talks. It was a bit more like a perfect storm, combining all the right conditions at the right time.
In 2021, my husband medically retired from the military giving me more free time, we moved to PEI right next to my father-in-law’s seaweed business of transforming wet and slimy seaweed into a livestock feed supplement. Witnessing the process first-hand tickled my biologist brain and I incessantly peppered him with questions during our porch conversations until one evening, he leaned over and said “You know what you should do, you should put it in little packages and sell it on the internet.”
And that’s how Storm began, one evening on the front porch; and after I managed to convince my father to take on yet another side project after his retirement from international investment banking.
Our vision is to harness a secret that coastal farmers have been using on their fields for centuries to help home gardeners put the power of seaweed’s minerals, micronutrients, and biostimulants to work keeping their plants healthy and productive.
We are a small company, but we believe in some big things!
Supporting local economy
Tignish is a small, tight-knit community that primarily relies on the seasonal fishing industry. It is important to us to keep as much of our operations within the community to positively contribute to this local economy.
Offering a high-quality product
Our blend of 4 different types of seaweed ensures that your plants get a full spectrum of micronutrients essential to their growth. That’s why we don’t add any fillers or dilute our product, to give the most concentrated biostimulant.
Reducing our impact on the environment
We are committed to reducing our emissions and protecting the shorelines that provide us with the beautiful seaweed enjoyed by your plants.

The Amazing World of Garden Soil: The Best Guide for Gardeners
Soil is a crucial resource for food production, providing the necessary support, nutrients, and environment for growing and harvesting food. A single spoonful contains more life than humans on earth! It is the very foundation of any garden and just like for houses, with weak foundation, everything crumbles.
What you Need to Know About Seaweed Fertilizer: Seafeed vs. kelp
Seaweed has been used by coastal populations for generations and for good reason! It was plentiful, easily accessible, and most importantly, gave great results. So, let’s take a deep dive into seaweed fertilizers and how you can use them for your plants.
How to Propagate Snake Plants: 3 Ways to Succeed
Sansevierias are the perfect plant for everyone, including black thumbs! They are originally from the desert areas of Africa so they can take plenty of direct sunlight and very little watering. Yet, they can also survive in the low light spots in our homes making them one of the most versatile houseplants.
What is propagation? The propagation process is simply making new plants from a parent plant; in other words, cloning the mother plant. It is a cost effective way of multiplying the number of plants you have and being able to share with other gardeners.
